Surah An-Najm
Surah An-Najm is the fifty third chapter of the Qu’ran and this is where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) publicly recited before an assemly of the Quraish tribe whereby both the believers and the non believers were present. This was the only time that Allah (swt) managed to get the attention of the non believers because everytime the Qu’ran was recited no-one would listen, infact majority of the time they would ask females to dance or ask people to purposely make a lot of noise so that the attention would be drawn there, overlooking anything related to Qu’ran. So he used the stars as a compass to guide them through the dessert and was the best possible way to include everyone to explain what was recited by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Star background:
Pleiades (Al-thuraiya) is a cluster of stars and Sirius is a bright star which are both referenced in this surah. The Pleiades are the central group of the system of sidereal symbology. They are situated in the neck of the constellation of Taurus, in astronomy, as the central group of the system of the Milky Way. This manifested side is Taurus, the Symbol of One (the figure one), or of the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, as we now know is Aleph (bull or ox). The Pleiades (Alcyone, especially), are thus considered, even in astronomy, as the central point around which our universe of fixed stars revolves. Hence in the occult philosophy and its sidereal symbols it is this circle and the starry cross on its face, which play the most prominent part. Emphasising that Allah (swt) decided to include these in the Surah so that everyone was able to relate but also physically see because Pleiades is very close to Sirius.
Astronomy:
The fixed background of the stars appears to shift throughout the year in relation to the sun. Yearly observations of Sirius, for example, would show that there is a time when the star sets in the west immediately after sunset. After that the star is no longer visible for a period of about seventy days. It will reappear again, however, just before sunrise in the east. This reappearance is known as the heliacal rising of the star. In three thousand and three hundred B.C the heliacal rising of Sirius occurred exactly on the day of the summer solstice (21st June Gregorian calendar). This demonstrates the beautiful timing of when this was recited.
Let’s get serious:
Although the Surah is named Surah An-Najm, there is no reference to the word but Sirius is actually mentioned and was seen as the sun of the sun, the alpha dog star. Sirius is the heart of our solar system, the Egyptians used to use Sirius to record time. It’s known to astronomers as Alpha Canis Major, the ancient Egyptians called it Septit, the Hebrews knew it as Sihor, to the Greeks as Sothis and the Egyptians as “soul” of the Goddess Isis or known as Star of Isis. In Egypt there is a town called Denderah where a temple called Isis-Hathor is located, it has a statue of Isis, located at the end of an aisle flanked by large columns. The statue was oriented to the rising of Sirius and priests would place a jewel in the goddess’ forehead so that the light from the returning star would fall on the gem. When the Egyptian priests saw the light of Sirius upon the gem on the statue of Isis they would announce to the people that the New Year had begun.
The Arabic term for Sirius is Al Shi'ra and the term Sanskrit, is Surya, the “Sun God”, simply meaning the “shining one”.
Sirius is positioned directly under Imum Coeli abbreviated to IC which is also known as the fourth house and the natural ruler of the fourth house is Cancer. Allah (swt) could have chosen any other star in the constellation but also chose this particular star because to the non believers they would have undersood that those who have Sirius as their planetary origin are very focused, very determined and set on whatever path they are on at a given time. Further, this was the only way to gain the attention of the non believers. Also it is very difficult to change the mind of one with Sirius, but once they have become convinced that a new “path” is more appropriate, they become totally focused on the new, and release the old quickly. Those with prominent Sirius have strong beliefs, ideals and personal integrity, embodying the nature of the non believers at the time. Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky, which, on 24th December, aligns with the three brightest stars in Orion’s Belt (another large constellation). Some say Sirius is the Sun that gives life to the physical Sun. The great central sun sends the energy straight to Sirius and then to Regular Sun. This is why in the Bible it tells us the story of the Three Kings or Three Wise Men who followed the star in the east, in order to locate the sunrise, the birth of the sun. The association of Sirius with a celestial dog has been consistent throughout the classical world; even in China, where the star is associated with the dog year embodying Sirius’s traits.
At the beginning of the movie “The Truman Show” , a light labelled “Sirius 9” falls onto the road in front of Truman's car, which illustrates to us that when the light falls out of the sky, Truman's life begins to fall apart. The following scene is followed by a dog jumping on Truman, who appears twice as large as him. It’s funny how the original name of Sirius was actually called the “dog star”. The director associates Truman with Sirius because it gives him a glimpse of “knowledge” and prompts his quest for truth, ultimately being able to see past the illusion so that he can recognise the limitations leading to his freedom…just like Sirius’s character. Also in the first ever Harry Potter book, Harry writes “Dear Padfoot, I hope you're all right. It's starting to get colder here. Winter is definitely on the way”. In spite of being back at Hogwarts, I feel more alone than ever. I know you, of all people, will understand”. He conveys his emotion so well and shows vulnerability that feels lacking in the other books. If you are unfamiliar with Harry Potter, he is writing a letter to his Godfather who is called…Sirius Black also known as “Padfoot” who transforms into a dog after completing some wizardry spells. In the book he is supposed to guard graves and to terrify travelers. I digress…
Surah An Najm Analysis:
Aries (hamal):
The Surah starts with “By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes)”...“Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, meaning” (53:2). Drawing attention to the sky but also mentions “companion” because Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was not an outsider but part of the Quraish family. He was born with them and grew up with them, and they too, looked up to him. But ever since he gained his Prophethood they looked down on him, creating slander. “Nor does he speak of (his own) desire.” … “It is only an Inspiration that is inspired.”…“Which one of mighty powers hath taught him, One vigorous; and he grew clear to view, When he was on the uppermost horizon.”. “He has been taught (this Quran) by one mighty in power (Jibrael (Gabriel)”
Angels play a vital role in the process of death and resurrection and guard the walls of heaven and hell, they are always present when in “salat” (prayer) and support the throne which is situated in the highest heaven. The lote tree is mentioned in the next ayah because this is where Angel Jibrael is, guarding the passage which is located in the heavens. The non believers at the time would have disregarded this because in their eyes Aries was the age in which Israel was born, the age of the wandering of the patriarchs in search of pasture for their herds. It was natural then to assign spiritual rulerships to the constellations which corresponded to the actions of “God” in the history of Isreal. The order of constellations is in the zodiacal order and this order of the sons of Israel is in the order of their birth and their blessings. Binyamin (Prophet Yusuf’s (AS) brother)(known as Benjamin in the Bible) was one of the twelve disciples and in the Qu’ran, Binyamin is referred to as a righteous child, who stayed with Prophet Yaqub (AS) (Jacob) when his older brothers plotted against Prophet Yusuf (AS) (Joseph).
Moses represented the new Age of Aries depicted by the ram which is the symbol for Aries. This is why Jews even today still blow the ram’s horn, the “shofar” (horn) to warn people to change their lives for the better, what a better way to start the Surah. Moses represents the new Age of Aries, and upon the new age, wherby everyone must shed the old age. Other deities mark these transitions as well, a pre-Christian God who kills the bull, in the same symbology. “Nor does he speak of (his own) desire”. Explains the nature of a ram, which is a true force of nature, not for the faint hearted, they move with courage, confidence, fearlessness and determination. They are not blind like a crab, the individual who constantly gives into desires damages their “Imaan”(faith) this is why fasting is important because if you can control what you eat, you can control your thoughts. “It is only an Inspiration that is inspired.” In Arabic, “wahi” means “inspiration” and there are two types of inspiration, the former is “wahi jali” which basically means the direct words from the Qu’ran and the latter is called “wahi khafi” which comes from Allah (swt), usually in the form of Hadiths. Here, it is referring to the former, because Allah (swt) is specifically speaking about the inspiration of the Qu’ran to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). After all “He has been taught (this Quran) by one mighty in power Jibrael (Gabriel)” he has been taught by the one who is mighty powerful like Angel Jibrael. Like the ram who are very protective and will chase dogs out of the field, Allah (swt) too has has promised to protect the Qu’ran from corruption and will always be divinly protected.
Taurus (thawr):
“And was at a distance of two bows' length or (even) nearer”… “(Prophets) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw”… “So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave (Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)”…“Near Sidrat-ul-Muntaha [lote-tree of the utmost boundary (beyond which none can pass)]” .
The constellation of Taurus shows a space between the bull’s horns representing the two bow’s length. Here, it’s conveying the idea that the Angel of Revelation became a clearly perceptible, almost like a Taurian tangible, presence. Even Aisha (RA), Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) wife, said to him “Did you see your Lord?” and he replied, “No I saw Jibra’il descending” . This was the first time that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had seen him in his original shape by the lote tree and then again on the night of Mi’raj. Jibrael had six hundred wings, likely to have covered the skies and very unlikely to have fit in cave Hira. That is why he didn’t see him in his original form until now. ("Prophets) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) . Allah (swt) is telling us that clearly Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) cannot lie about what he just saw because his heart is soft and one can only see clearly if their heart is soft. On the other hand, the non believers cannot digest that the Prophet (PBUH) has just seen Angel Jibrael because they have a hard heart. The arabic word for mold is qalab, and this is what holds the inner reality of the man (qalb meaning heart). Ofcourse one does not stay with a “hard” or a “soft” heart, Allah (swt) can soften the hardest heart because only He knows what is causing this heart to harden in the first place, He wants us to be at peace and this can be accomplished with “takhliyah” and “taliyah”. Takhliyah means to simply empty the heart from whatever that is not suppose to be there and replacing it with taliyah meaning beautifying the heart. The Qu’ran has plenty of imagery explaining the spiritual heart. Concluding that that those who have no imaan in their heart will not be able to comprehend the idea of how the Qu’ran came down to Earth and therefore will not be able to benefit from the Qu’ran. So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave (Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel) meaning that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) came so close to Angel Jibrael that it was as though Allah (swt) was holding him up with a rope from the sky. The theme of this ayah is about ones well being, having a strong foundation and material support. The “lote tree” is a large ever green tree grown at the the highest place in heavens. And in Taurus spring season trees start to blossom with flowers in abundance bringing about affluence on Earth.
Gemini (jawza):
“Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs). And Manat (another idol of the pagan Arabs), the other third? Is it for you the males and for Him the females? That indeed is a division most unfair!”
The Qu’ran condemns the symbolism of idols such as Al Laat, Al Uzza and Manat because they are deceptive. I found uncanny similarities between Al-Uzza, a supreme Arabian goddess and Lilith. Although they are historically unrelated, the Mesopotamian symbology that influenced both Semitic and Arabian folklore of demonised feminine figures. The planet Pluto was not discovered just yet but Al Laat had the same characteristics of Pluto, who can hammer down the same intense emotional turmoil over and over again UNTIL we master our self control in those situations. Pluto wants you to have mastery and control over those. HEALTHY control. Because there is bliss to be had so you can picture so can you imagine what kind of idol Al Laat was! Al Uzza was known as Venus but unlike Venus she was was seen as a powerful female warrior and associated with Aphrodite, another asteroid but leaning towards being sexual in nature. Manat was an idol who was known as the “God of fate” and apparently women used to menstruate when they were close in Manat’s proximity. The shared paradigm is reinforced by both ancient and modern beliefs, similar to how Lilith's myth has evolved. Illustrating in this ayah saying how irrational the beliefs of the non believers are by following and worshipping these named idols that have no meaning and are in fact destructive to ones concious mind. In fact during this time it was very common to worship a God for your needs, eg. God for Wealth, God for Love, God for Success etc. It also would have been shocking for them to hear Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) mentioning the idols that they worshipped, personifying this ayah even more.
The sign of Gemini is represented by two faces representing their dual personality and when an individual has two faces this duality can lead to superficiality and that in turn can lead to vanity. Mushrik is strictly forbidden. Allah (swt) is reassuring them all here is that He will provide for them and reassuring that they do not need to worship these gods aswell, the leaders of the Quraish did not necessarily follow them as idols as per say, but it lead their mind into self deceiving.
Cancer (saratan):
“And there are many angels in the heavens, whose intercession will avail nothing except after Allah has given leave for whom He wills and pleases.” “Verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter, name the angels with female names”…“While they have no knowledge thereof. They follow but a guess, and verily, guess is no substitute for the truth”
Cancer is well known symbol of the “crab” having a hard exterior and soft interior having the ability to remain within its remit due to feeling familiar. Similarly, explaining here that the quality of man's life in the hereafter does not depend on such outside factors but is instead is directly connected inwards with the manner of his life in this world. “And they have no knowledge thereof. They follow but a guess, and lo! a guess can never take the place of the truth. Crabs are blind, they do not have a clear vision, they see a mosaic of repeated blurry pictures. Comparing the non believers to crabs who are blindly following idols/goddesses with no real knowledge of questioning why and instead giving their Gods feminine names. “While they have no knowledge thereof. They follow but a guess, and verily, guess is no substitute for the truth.” Cancer is a small constellation of faint stars, and it is difficult to find in the sky and this imagery perfectly reflects the strength of the non believers “imaan”. Regardless of ones religion, we only carry out religious acts because we follow what we have been taught by our families, correspondingly, Allah (swt) is asking them “do you know what you are even worshipping?” …“have you even questioned what and why you carry out certain religous acts?” . According to the Bible, there are eight types of Archangels; Gabriel, Michael, Uriel, Raphael, Daniel, Lucifer, Remiel and Raguel. And each angel is associated with a particular zodiac. Here, Archangel Gabriel meaning “God is my strength” is associated with the zodiac sign of Cancer and Sirius is situated directly under IC - 4th house which rules…Cancer! The fact that Angel Jibrael is positioned above Sirius which present to the non believers that essentially if Angel Gabriel is situated above the brightest star then that means that whomever they worship comes precedent.
Leo (asad):
And to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth, that He may requite those who do evil with that which they have done (i.e. punish them in Hell), and reward those who do good, with what is best (i.e. Paradise).
Leo is represented by the lion and they are not naturally aggressive towards humans in nature, in fact both lions and lionesses avoid conflict with humans, until they are provoked. Once they are provoked they can eat a human quite ruthlessly. Similarly, the Qu’ran warns us that any form of ingratitude or defiance at these times will be severely dealt with. Lions are also naturally prideful and it’s as though Allah (swt) is saying “don’t be so proud like a Leo (lion) after all I can humble you within seconds” . Allah (swt) created all the other kinds of creations before He created the humankind eg. the water, the air, the heavens, the earth, the trees, the mountains, the valleys, the animals, insects way before he created man. A lions is the king of the jungle but nobody is a greater king than Allah (swt), only HE can change the rules. One of the most prominent constellations of the night sky, Leo is visible from pretty much anywhere on Earth, except for Antarctica. And Allah (swt) is larger than any constellation. Allah (swt) is omnipresent and omniscient so those who commit bad deeds for their work will be punished and those commiting good deeds will be rewarded. The nature of astrology was very equal and spiritual beforehand. If you look at astrology through the ages, it was the age of Leo where we first have astronomical alignments on Earth. Around 10,500 BC the Sphinx looked directly at constellation of Leo, and the pyramids in Egypt aligned with Orion's belt.
Virgo (sunbula):
Those who avoid great sins and Al-Fawahish (illegal sexual intercourse, etc.) except the small faults, verily, your Lord is of vast forgiveness. He knows you well when He created you from the earth (Adam), and when you were fetuses in your mothers' wombs. So ascribe not purity to yourselves. He knows best him who fears Allah and keep his duty to Him.
The sign of Virgo is symbolised by a virgin. Islam prescribes marital affairs after maturity through a binding contract (nikah) to safeguard the rights of a wife but strictly controls the sexual exploitations which leads to pre-marital physical relationships. Allah (swt) understands that man was created to be weak, not of the physical kind but when faced of the temptation of women. Reassuring that Allah (swt) is forgiving and kind to those who avoid sins, avoid sexual sins or are guilty only of lighter sins. However, repetitively commiting minor sins will lead to committing a major sin.“So, ascribe not purity/praise to yourselves” , means do not praise or boast saying “I did X Y and Z what did you do? I prayed, I paid Zakat, I fasted, I attended the mosque, I performed the pilgrimage” . This is not permissible because the people who praise themselves are the furthest of people from purification, going back to the virgin imagery of being pure. Virgo is also referred to as the house of bread, and the representation of Virgo is a virgin holding a sheaf of wheat representing August and September, the time of harvest. In turn, Bethlehem [Bet-Leḥem], in fact, literally translates to “house of bread”. Bethlehem is thus a reference to the constellation Virgo, a place in the sky, not on Earth.
Libra (mizaan):
“Or hath he not had news of what is in the books of Moses…And Abraham who paid his debt…That no burdened person (with sins) shall bear the burden (sins) of another….And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad)…And that his deeds will be seen…Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense” “That it is He Who granteth Laughter and Tears;”
Libra’s are represented by the scales and are envoys of peace and harmony celebrating justice at all times. In ayah 36, the ten commandments of Moses, Prophet Musa (AS) was referred in order to uphold the laws of social justice. It describes the only way to attain justice is by believing that everyone is equal. The names of Abraham and Moses are cited here only by way of example, drawing attention to the fact that all through human history Allah (swt) has entrusted His elect, the prophets, with the task of conveying certain unchangeable ethical truths to man. Allah (swt) rewarded them for the whole act of goodness that was done sincerely, and so it was be rewarded in full and in good. Whilst bad deed will be recompensed in full in punishment because Allah (swt) is fair.
Happiness is only in the hands of Allah (swt) displaying that only He can give full contentment to a homeless man and quarter of that contentment to a millionnaire. The happiness of the soul relates to virtues such as wisdom, courage, temperance and justice. The happiness of the body relates to virtues such as health, strength and beauty. But what Allah (swt) wants everyone to know is that NONE of these things matter if don’t contribute to the happiness of the soul in this world and the hereafter. If you are seeking advice of someone who does not believe in the after life then the advice given will be of no use. Similarly, fortune tellers back then used their “knowledge” as a business, they were not out there giving their advice for free, neither were they genuine because they were not scared of the afterlife. They used tarot cards and each card would represent a zodiac sign eg. the justice card here would be used to present Libra. There are plenty of Hadiths that encapsulate how Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to pray upon seeing a solar eclipse and how he saw the fruits of the Garden and punishments of the fire. This “eclipse prayer” called “salat al-kusuf” allowed him to access the afterworld whilst being in the waking state.
Scorpio (aqrab):
“And that it is He (Allah) Who causes death and gives life;..And that He (Allah) creates the pairs, male and female…From Nutfah (drops of semen male and female discharges) when it is emitted;” “and that it is for Him to grant the second life”
A scorpion represents Scorpio energy and one sting from a black scorpian is enough to kill you, indicating life or death - transformation. Scorpio traditionally ruled by Mars then Pluto, ruling the reproductive system. Allah (swt) created everyone in pairs resulting in offspring, which is a miracle. Allah (swt) did not create homosexuals as this is strictly forbidden. He declares when conception occurs, whereby the sperm is the governing factor in deciding the gender of the feotus eg. males carrying the “X” and “Y” chromosomes whilst females carrying the “X” chromosome. Allah (swt) also decides whether man is granted life after the hereafter.
Sagittarius (qaws):
“And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment),”
There is only one ayah here which summarises the centaurian Sagittarius energy, conveying the epitome of wanting to shoot targets at the heights of the sky trying to unravel the depths of the sky and its space representing the philosophical development. In the Bible, Archangel Raguel meaning “Friend of God” represents Sagittarius energy. And importantly “gives much” of whatever they have as its ruled by the planet Jupiter (and planet of luck and expansion). Here, mentioning that individuals should realise that if Allah (swt) were to take away their wealth, then getting upset and throwing a tantrum would do them no good. Hence, if a person wants to keep his wealth, he should express gratitude to Allah (swt) by praying, giving money to charity and avoiding sins. Contentment and being grateful come hand in hand and those who practice effortlessy will be blessed with abundance.
Capricorn (jadi):
“And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); And that it is He (Allah) Who destroyed the former 'Ad (people)”…”And the Thamud nor gave them a lease of perpetual life.”…
The people of `Ad resided between Yemen and Oman, they were the strongest people of that time. They were not ignorant of the existence of Allah (swt), neither did they refuse to worship Allah (swt). But they refused was to worship Allah alone. They worshiped other gods, also, including idols. This is one sin Allah does not forgive. Just like Capricorn which is ruled by Saturn, Saturn teaches you things the harsh way but leaves you a gift once the lesson has been learnt. A lot of these people existed then and were called “mushrik” so Allah (swt) annihilated the entire nation by a violently furious wind. What this ayah stresses is that nothing takes place without the will of Allah (swt), you cannot believe in multiple Gods. Prophet Salih (AS) was sent to the tribe of Thamud (who used to carve houses out of mountains) but they too disobeyed the Prophet. Those who transgressed were caught by the loud cry of Angel Jibrael and their hearts were burst by the horrific sound resulting in the mass destruction of those people. The belief in the angels is one of the pillars of faith…going back to unravelling of KHYAS, Saad of capricorn energy. Capricorn rules the skeleton system which is the foundation of the human body, so here it’s illustrating that having faith is the key foundation when praying to one God only.
Aquarius (dalw):
“This (Muhammad ) is a warner (Messenger) of the (series of) warners (Messengers) of old. The Day of Resurrection draws near, None besides Allah can avert it, (or advance it, or delay it). Do you then wonder at this recital (the Qur'an)? And you laugh at it and weep not, Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.).”
Saturn once ruled Aquarius, and Capricorn, but that was before Uranus was discovered. Uranus, Neptune, Pluto were discovered after. But it is highly likely that a goddess then embodied that archetype. Once it was discovered, Aquarians seemed to take on, new, Uranian traits, therefore was declared to be ruled by Uranus which is the planet of rebellion, liberation, avant garde inspiration and reformation. The Qu’ran is focusing on the non believers who are embodying the same rebellious attitude of Uranus by wasting their time by doing things that will not assist them later on, like singing and dancing which is forbidden or commonly known as “haram”. Music was allowed if it brought tranquility to the human soul rather than music that had no meaning. Also it cites in the fifty third ayah “And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah). So that (ruins unknown) have covered them up.” The people of Sodom were sodomites (homosexuals), so Allah (swt) destroyed them when they disobeyed Prophet Lut (AS). The Dead Sea is the site of the ancient city of Sodom and the Qu’ran describes those who resided here were ignorant, wicked evildoers who rejected Allah’s (swt) call to righteousness solely because they openly practiced immoral liberating sexual behavior. Prophet Lut (AS) tenaciously preached God's message, but to no avail; he even found that even his own wife was one of the non believers. So Allah (swt) severely punished the homosexuals for their wickedness with fiery stones of clay.
Pisces (hut):
So fall you down in prostration to Allah, and worship Him (Alone).
Pisces is a water sign represented by the fish, as general statement, they are no closer to God than any of the other eleven zodiac signs. However, their slogan would be “I see. I know. I am connected. We are one, and we are boundless”. Pisces is ruled by Neptune (traditionally ruled by Jupiter), the planet of illusion and Allah (swt) can see that the non believers are wrapped in this illusion just like in todays world. In the Bible, fish symbolism is very abundant too because Jesus fed five thousand people with bread and “2 fish”. Eastern astrology associates the Age of Pisces with the yin; i.e. spirituality and intuition. So when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) recited this ayah he performed “sajdah”, where he fell down in postration and the whole assembly also fell down with him even the non believers, including the jinns (bad spirits) except for Umayyah bin Khalaf who was the head of the Bani Jumah tribe of the Quraish in the Arabian Peninsula. He celebrated pagan festivals, constantly opposed the Prophet Muhammads (PBUH) teachings and repeatedly tortured his slave, Bilal ibn Rabbah.
Everyone cried so much that tears were flowing down their cheeks and then Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) started to cry.
This ayah is so powerful because humans have free will but Allah (swt) knows what decisions you will make ahead of time anyway. In the absence of free will, these decisions would be made by Allah (swt) and you might have only the illusion of free will, concluding that nothing happens unless Allah (swt) allows it to happen. Allah (swt) broke down their Sirius traits allowing them to see past the illusion showing everyone that Islam is the right way. After this Surah was recited, a rumour had spread to Abyssinia (formly known as Ethiopia) that the non believers had reverted to Islam, so some of them charged their way back to Makkah causing conflict just to find out that this was in fact just a rumour. Again showing that Neptune is good at throwing a trident if you’re dellusional. I also feel as though this Surah is partically valued because He has made a statement relating to not just everyone’s sign but taking into account each religion and this is why everyone prayed together because they were able to relate to was was being recited.
The individuals that strive on this path may see their reward in this very life, not just in the hereafter. In this Surah the most profound observation was found that Islam shows us a personal God, a God who loves His creation and with whom one can have a very personal relationship. The Surah started off with Aries as the first sign in the zodiac and Pisces the last, what a fitting way to end the Surah! Observing that this Surah does not even start with any Haruf Muqatta’at Subhanallah!
Speechless…
I have been up every night reading other Surahs but mainly this Surah as there is so much more that I need to add yet. I have been completely fascinated yet glad that this has come to my attention. There are so many references to the stars even Surah Buruj literally means “mansion of the stars” and here it explains Saturn and the progressed Sun-Moon cycle that go around the chart at the same rate, returning to their natal positions every 28 years calling them stations. The house systems is even discussed which I am happily writing about! I am sure if this reaches one person atleast they’ll too, be able to view the Qu’ran in a different light. This all might not even be linked and I can be totally wrong but it is my blog so there is no need for a disclaimer. But yet here I am, at the precipice of this great leap I have to take that is going to set wheels in motion I can’t say it’s going to be possible to ever stop.
In fact the Qu’ran was revealed in steps, just like how the stars were revealed anyway…Allah (swt) has a way to penetrate into the deepest depths of ghayb (concealed) and receive guidance when the night is even darker. Meaning that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is capable of receiving revelation even in the most extreme conditions when there is no light, during a mans darkest moments when all previous revelations have been distorted.
